Yoga: a workout for the soul

Basma

Meet Basma

Where do I begin? When people ask me what is it that I do, I struggle giving them one answer because I cannot define myself with just one thing. Since 2001 I’ve taken on jobs from being a promoter to generate some Uni pocket money, to interning as a graphic designer in my Junior yr, to joining the Ad. agency and marketing world post grad, to being assigned as a creative makeup ambassador after leaving the corp world in 2010, to hosting good-cause events on the regular, Creating positive experiences for children with cancer, integrating myself with the startup scene in San Francisco, to finally arriving at Yoga today!

Long story — short. One anxiety attack which felt like a mini-heart stroke to me, got me determined to practice the workout of my mind and my breath. I had to learn how to take control of both, so I began my journey, which led me to an online yoga challenge for 30 days by YogaWithAdrienne who’s style drew me to Yoga not as a practitioner only but as a teacher. So, being in San Francisco, a city that’s founded many Zen centers, there was my chance to pursue Yoga as a teacher by sought after teachers. I studied Vinyasa which works with my personalty, I like to dance, I like to choreograph, and most importantly, I love to teach, and i know  i am teaching things of value.

I studied Vinyasa which works with my personalty, I like to dance, I like to choreograph, and most importantly, I love to teach, and i know  i am teaching things of value.

Fast forward, I land back in Dubai, with a vision to teach Yoga Bilingually to attract the Arab speakers to Yoga, having lived here all my life, I have a good understanding of the Arab women and I am certain they will benefit from Yoga as a workout of the soul, body & mind. So far, It’s gained attraction by locals and I am just at the beginning of my journey. I study daily, I love integrating anatomy, psychology, and an understanding of the power of our subconscious mind in my studies and my Yoga classes as a way to manifest a wholesome session to my fellow yoginis. Join me my friends, Yalla 3al Mat!
